Jason Taylor
I second the question. I can't afford their minimum. maybe we could arange a group buy? Reed in the Wind Forge Which ever way the wind blows is cool with me
Hurl Vreeland
Admiral has a $90.00 shear fee. I am looking for 1 1/4x1/4 thick. I found somebody else who has it but they also have a shear fee. To split the difference I found this: http://www.pmtsco.com/ They have 1065 "plow steel". I paid $50.00 for 3-20' pieces. I not sure about the "plow" part but I believe it will serve my need. If there are enough people who would be interested I would go along with a bulk buy. Joe W.
The 1065 from pmtsco is good stuff. "Plow steel" is just a name tacked on to it (like double improved wire cable = 1095, improved wire cable = 1065). At $0.84 a foot for 1065, it's pretty hard to complain about. I like their 1080 alot too. Clean consistent stuff. If the bulk buy idea gets some takers, I'd like in for some 1075 if I can see the spec sheet first. Me and 1050 don't like each other, though. B. Norris
I have not ordered from this company, but they do sell both 1050 and 1075. Thompson Metal and Tubing. B. Norris
Whoops! Linked to their "Drill Rod" page, just click on the Spring Steel heading on the menu to the left. “All work is empty save when there is love, for work is love made visible.” Kahlil Gibran "It is easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them." - Alfred Adler
Jason Taylor
here is one for a good laugh... midwest steels(i won't bother with a link) quoted me 195.00 for a 3/16x1x36 bar of 1050! pacific sounds like it might be a good source. you would think with as many knife makers admiral supplies they would make 1050/1070 available on their blade steel page.
