Knifenetwork Down?

J.Arthur Loose

Recommended Posts

Hey, can anyone see if they're having trouble connecting to http://www.knifenetwork.com , or http://www.atlantavirtual.com , which hosts my website, http://www.jloose.com which I can't access either? Only thing I can think of is somehow Alex is down or my ISP is blocking his servers for some odd reason... been down for at least a day!

Thanks, Mike, I wondered what was happening. As of 2200 EST the site was still down. Reminds me of working at my last job, which was a heavily computerized business. The IT folks would tell us that we'd be back up by noon and the standard line would be "which day".

I am not getting my emails either I just had a customer call and was wondering why I had not called him he needed to go over some details. Well if you don't get emails kind of hard. Seems like Alex and the crew are having some problems with the move. I hope it is back soon.

My website redirect works fine, but nothing actually served by AV is responding, including any of their own corporate stuff. Knifenetworks, the Neo-tribal metalsmiths, even taigoo.com is dead.

Not that it's kept people from making knives... maybe this forum will get a boost from the lost traffic.

Yeah, Alex is usually amazing, so the problem must be bad, but no website and no e-mail is getting rough. There's people I need to talk to!

Ah, how fragile the modern day really is...

Ahh, worse when it affects your business. As much as I like AV, that's why I still use Hotmail for my email account, and Verizon hosts my web stuff with an AV redirect.

There's something to be said for a paper rolodex with names/numbers/email addrresses for days like this... I'm dealing with the fact that the screen on my cellphone is dead, and there seems to be no way for them to transfer my contacts list from the old one to a new one... they're in the phone, not the sim card. Ugh indeed.

Good luck, let's cross our fingers.

The forums have a message that they're supposed to be up a couple days ago now... the rest of AV seems to work, so hopefully you guys with emails and websites are restored again. Wonder when they'll get around to the forums.

Mine is still down Alex has sent me an email letting me know what is going on apparently it is a problem with the datacenter it has made national news. Here is what Alex sent me about the trouble they are having.

I'm sorry for the delayed response to your question. We're working on

emergency overdrive to correct this remaining server issue. We expect to

have it up by 4am, but we are tied by issues with our datacenter. There are

250 zone files that were missing on this unit (the server that you're on)

that are being hand written by the remote staff in Andover. Progress is

fast, but so many servers makes it appear sloooooow!!

Our datacenter was purchased by Navisite and they've totally botched this

transfer. It's national news, not just us ... 150,000 sites.

Details ...

one!!!) ;(

Seems it is up and running again, and they'd had a note up saying they wouldn't until all their client sites were back up... so hopefully you guys are back in business.

Of course, it was a bunch of old hairy men talking about shaving heinies... so I'm still pondering the value... :P
