Mike Sheffield
mmmmm She looks good enough to eat. Good job. My life is like shaving with a razor sharp machete. It's a bit awkward and I feel a sting every now and then, but in the end I'm happy with the results.
Beau Erwin
Very cool blade. Was thinking the scales looked thin, but with the tang that thick, it makes up for it. I like it. Sam Salvati
LOOKS GOOD! That hamon is stunning, and the whole knife looks great youhave a great eye for the overall Chris. Let not the swords of good and free men be reforged into plowshares, but may they rest in a place of honor; ready, well oiled and God willing unused. For if the price of peace becomes licking the boots of tyrants, then "To Arms!" I say, and may the fortunes of war smile upon patriots

Chris Moss
thanks guy! i heat treated this blade in water. i am just starting to get comfortable with water. out of 4 blades i quenched in water (recenlty) only one of them has cracked (and i got that one way too hot... sadly it was a W2 shobu-zukuri wak that got some GORGIOUS sori.. and a few big ol cracks too) thanks so much Walter! the hamon detail was due more to your DVDs than anything.. thanks so much for your help! ~Chris -Knifemaker- http://knifemaker87.googlepages.com/home Hamons are a painting; blades are a canvas, clay is my paint, fire is my brush. the problem is.. i am still painting like Pablo Picasso. Beau Erwin
Might have to do up some sacrificial blades and try them in water and see if any survive =P Beau Erwin www.ErwinKnives.com Custom knives Bcarta Composites Stabilized Woods
Chris Moss
if you do.. make the edges thicker (at least a little) and dont get them too hot. i have heard that some people put a little detergent in the water to aid the uniformity of quench, however i havent tried it. good luck! ~Chris -Knifemaker- http://knifemaker87.googlepages.com/home Hamons are a painting; blades are a canvas, clay is my paint, fire is my brush. the problem is.. i am still painting like Pablo Picasso. This makes for a very fast very harsh quench. I've gotten HC railroad spikes to 53 RC in water with detergent and jet dry. Also put a piece of O1 in by accident and snapped it in 3 pieces lol. I would have it almost boiling before I put good steel in it to help reduce the shock. It's still gonna cool very fast.
