Mike Blue
Now this is off the cuff, more logical relationship stuff from the periodic table of elements. More research may be needed. But the Rhenium is in the same class of element as cobalt. I'd expect a straight red spark from that. Niobium is right next to moly and one row below chromium. Chromium is great for making sparks disappear. Okay, now the real metallurgists can scratch their heads... There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves. Will Rogers
Richard Furrer
Jerry, What was the slag like? Did you oxidize the lot? reactive metals are..well, reactive and may have turned to gas or simply be in oxidized form. Do you have more weight in the bad ingot than input material or less? What color is it? Ric Richard Furrer Door County Forgeworks Sturgeon Bay, WI
