another Forge building question

My forge is a 10''x 12'' peice of pipe i am using 1 Ellis Venturi burner.I would like to know where and at what angle to place the burner.Also how far should the burner be inserted into the forge body

Enter "gas forge" in the search window and it will take you to many different posts which will help answer your question in detail. The short answer here for your horizontal forge is that the burner is usually mounted in the top middle of forge with the nozzle tangential to the top inner surface of your lining. The nozzle should not extend into the forge chamber but rather the tip should be about an inch back from the inside opening so it doesn't overheat.

You don't want the flame to be directed right onto your knife. It needs to swirl around the forge interior for even heating. Having it at the 10:00 position allows it to flow around your refractory and swirl.
