We've been making our various plans for coming.

I'm currently planning to bring a variety of homemade micartas for the tailgate sales if anyone will be interested, find me.

They're msotly going to be denim and twills.

If I get it all made up, which should be easy as I've only got two more batches, just need more resin...

two batches blue denim.

red denim ("bordeaux" red with a kinda pinkish backing)

coffee denim

olive green twill

purple twill

and we just did some rag burl that consisted of a brown and a tan, with small amounts of red and black. Turned out pretty cool. Might try to make some more of the green that I'd had at Clainborne's, but thicker =P I think Randy Nelson ended up with a piece of the green.

Looking forward to getting some other colors later on to try.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I didn't make plans to go because I had to work today. So I get to work today and it turns out I was put on the schedule by mistake and don't have to work. I am so pissed off right now.

I hope you guys are having fun. Give us a full accounting when you get back so I can live vicariously through you. :D

Don't feel too bad, I wasn't scheduled to work yesterday but ended up at the office from 8:30 to 6:30. I hope everyone had a good time and I hope the rains didn't put too much of a damper on things Friday night and Saturday!

Roger is a very interesting fellow. Those bike tires are probably right at the max pressure limit too. LOL. He's got a swedge block he coulda balanced on the other end.

Yeah, we talked about you while huddled under a steel-roofed open shelter during a severe thunderstorm on Friday... Not telling what he said. ;)

He brought two anvils and the swedge block.

For those interested, he calls them "Peter Wrong" anvils. If you know, you'll laugh or groan, if not, you won't understand.

Glenn survived having the anvil dropped on his head pretty well, but it may take awhile to get his eyes to quit rolling in opposite directions.

My fiance wanted to buy the Peter Wrong anvil but he was nowhere to be seen. I wound up getting one of Chuck Robinson's anvils and a bunch of steel from Aldo.

Saw several of you but didn't say much 'cept to Luke Sheridan.

I had a great time.

Was nice getting to see Alan and Stephen and Dennis again, and meet some of the others here from the forum that I hadn't before.

Got to Meet Glenn, Jesus, Don Fogg, Adlai, and a bunch of others.

Was a great trip. I hope to get to go again.

Once I get my pictures put up on photobucket I'll be putting up a link.

In the picture of Alan about to Maim Glenn, I'm i the background on the right.

Looks like everyone had a good time, wish I had been there. Glenn, you coming down to Bloutstown this coming weekend? Jesse is doing a smelt and I'm supposed to be helping him last I talked to him.

I hate to hear you guys missed it. It was a good time to be had and left a good enough impression on me that I'm going to try and make it back next year. Until then here's a few shots from the event.

I mean how many of you have seen a wooden bodied coal forge before huh?

A great time was had by all.....

What a weekend! So it rained a little (!?!?!?)... Most definitely worth every mile we drove to get there. The assembled knowledge, the camraderie, the hospitality, the great facility.... I could go on & on....

I think what struck me most was the enthusiasm everyone in the knife community brings to a gathering like this. I've been to events for other organizations where some folks are just putting in their time, not really into it, just there because someone asked them to be there. I saw nothing like that at Tannehill. Everyone enjoys what they do, & enjoys sharing it with everyone. From patient, in-depth answers from the demonstrators to keeping the coal burning in the rain so a youngster can hammer out his first blade, it was "all good", as they say. Good example - our own Don Fogg circling about the demonstrator's pavilion taking pictures & hanging on every word during the damascus presentation.... I only hope I can still generate that kind of enthusiasm for the craft when I've been at it as long as he has (if I live long enough) - quite inspiring. And another legend- Mel Pardue- is he sitting about, holding court in some protected haven? No, he's sitting in the dreary drizzle at the auction with the rest of us collecting pieces for a new hydraulic press (& supporting the cause), & asking yours truly, a humble noob from nowhere, if I had a good time & would I be back next year....

But I do go on. Suffice it to say that all that enthusiasm & helpfulness is very much noticed & very much appreciated. Now for the entertainment - links to a couple albums of pictures from our weekend:

I'll try & post some directly later if I can figure out how....

Thanks-

It's yours, my friend! I was just now trying to resize the thing over there so I could post it & tease you with it anyway.... Nice cut, by the way, you did well all 'round. Would you like to share the particulars on your cutter? I think that Wiggins fellow developed some kind of hidden laser-guidance device for his - he didn't hit any 2x4's or anything..... (snicker, snicker).

Glad you liked it-
