Doug Martin
I am wondering how hard it would be to have a knife sharpener in the sheath so that when you put it in and pull it out..it's sharp?
CProkopp
I am wondering how hard it would be to have a knife sharpener in the sheath so that when you put it in and pull it out..it's sharp? I once saw a bayonet with a metal scabbard that had that feature: a tiny, spring-loaded stone on each side of the blade. My only concern would be wearing down the blade, but then not much steel would ever be taken off at any one time. "I'm not anti-gun. I'm pro-knife." Doug Martin
I thought of that to. I don't know much about sheaths...and I was just wondering if it could be done and maybe how you would go about it.
Matt Bower
Yeah, I've seen that. Never liked it. I think they usually use carbide scrapers that I cannot believe would produce a durable edge. Even assuming you used stones, and even if it worked - each stroke sharpened the blade a little -- it wouldn't do enough sharpening to keep up with any real use. To me, this sort of gimmick is usually a sign of poor quality. Edited March 6, 2008 by Matt Bower
